Are you planning a trip to Orlando, Florida and have a new year’s resolution of trying new thrills? If so, exploring new rides at the area’s numerous theme parks can help you accomplish this goal.
Whether you are a fan of Walt Disney Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, or both, there is no shortage of rides to choose from. These attractions come in different forms to offer unique thrills to travelers of all ages.
Stay at Spectrum Resort Orlando so that you can start the year off with a fun time. Here are new rides in Orlando to try in the new year.

1. Tron Lightcycle Run

Fans of the Tron franchise who have a day planned for a visit at Disney’s Magic Kingdom should take a ride on Tron Lightcycle Run. With this ride, you sit on your own Lightcycle and race through eight Energy Gates.
Tron Lightcycle Run offers thrills from its launch to the end to keep you excited throughout your race. Some of the side cars in this ride includes a separate cart in the back in case the regular seats aren’t comfortable.

2. Pipeline: The Surf Coaster

Is a day at SeaWorld on your itinerary for your stay at Spectrum? If not, our motivation to change that is Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, a new ride that you can try out in between tours of the park’s vast aquatic life.
While on the world’s first “surf coaster,” you can experience the rush of surfing the ocean with its surfing launch and “wave-jumping” motions. Those who enjoy both surfing and riding roller coasters will get to enjoy the fun of both activities at the same time.

3. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Star Wars fans with a visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on their itinerary will have a blast with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This ride allows you to join the Resistance on a secret mission against the First Order to save the galaxy.
This attraction features multiple ride systems to offer excitement around every corner, and both adults and kids can enjoy this ride. You’ll be treated with appearances of popular Star Wars characters along the way, including Rey, Kylo Ren, and BB-8.

4. Jurassic World VelociCoaster

Universal Resort Orlando is home to Jurassic World VelociCoaster, the fastest and launch coaster in Florida. Whether you’re a Jurassic World fan or want to test the speed and height of different coasters while staying at Spectrum, this ride is a must for those visiting Universal.
Jurassic World VelociCoaster launches you at 70 miles per hour in just 2.4 seconds through the Raptor paddock and come face-to-face with two full-grown raptors. The 155 ft.-tall “Top Hat” makes you feel like you’re flying over the park, followed by cross overs and barrel rolls.

5. Ice Breaker

Another roller coaster for new and seasoned riders looking for a unique experience is SeaWorld’s Ice Breaker. This ride reaches speeds up to 52 mph, and you can catch quick views along the shores of the SeaWorld central lagoon.
The thrills of the Ice Breaker come from four launches, one 100-degree vertical spike, and a 93-ft. tall top hat. This vertical drop coaster also features multiple airtime events and a series of twists and turns.

6. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Some rides give you a break from the thrills of coasters and similar attractions while also offering some excitement. A prime example is Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, based on the popular Disney and Pixar film.
Take a trip from Spectrum to Epcot to enjoy this 4-D ride, which takes you on a trip with Chef Remy through the kitchen, walls and dining room of Gusteau’s Paris restaurant. Visitors of all ages can embark on this adventure, in case your kids aren’t ready for the bigger rides yet.

7. Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast

Were you a fan of “Shrek 4-D” before it closed and are wondering if it has had a replacement since? If so, you will be happy to hear about Villain-Con Minion Blast featuring the Minions from Illumination’s “Despicable Me.”
Take your “E-Liminator X” blaster to help the Minions as they battle the Vicious 6 on an adventure through a supervillain conference. Syncing your blaster to the Universal Orlando App allows you to compare scores.

8. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

EPCOT offers the opportunity to travel through space and time through Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Guests can enjoy music from Starlord’s mixtape while flying on the fully enclosed roller coaster.
Cosmic Rewind includes a 360-degree rotation to stay on track with the action, as well as the first reverse-launch on a Disney coaster. Helping the Guardians of the Galaxy on their quest will be an adventure for families of all ages.
Every new year offers the chance to try something new, and the rides of Orlando’s parks allow you to do so in an exciting way. Book your stay at Spectrum today to give these rides a shot.
